That is correct - our shift boot retainers do not fit over the base of our Clamp Adapters, but they don’t need to! When installing a shift boot retainer and Clamp Adapter together, you need to follow the correct order of operations:

1. Fit the shift boot retainer to the shift boot using the cable tie. Once complete, slide the shift boot retainer over the shifter assembly shaft. The shifter assembly shaft should be through the middle of the shift boot retainer.
2. Install the Clamp Adapter onto the shifter assembly shaft.
3. Thread your Likewise shifter onto the Clamp Adapter.
4. Click the shift boot retainer into the shifter.
